FAQ
Q: What Software is used?
A: Procreate (ipad) for the majority of my commissions. For larger prints or covers I use Clip Studio (XPpen).
Q: Do you do book covers?
A: Yes. They are something that takes much longer than the average commission, usually 2-3 months depending on the complexity. You must provide me with the template size for your book (from your print shop) so that I can ensure my work is cropped properly. I can do typography as well, for an additional charge.
Q: I am an indie author with a small budget, can you discount?
A: To keep things fair to all, I do not offer discounts based on your status. I suggest perusing other approved bookish artists at bookishartists.com to find more artists that may better suit your budget. Occasionally I do offer discounts when a client orders a high quantity of art from me, however.
Q: What is the "Character Design" charge?
A: When bringing a character to life, a lot is involved with bringing references together and interpreting the character. It is, in my opinion, a specialty skill on top of rendering and drawing in general. It also involves more "back and forth" with clients and therefore I charge additional for this service. The fee is only waived if I am provided with character art that has been drawn by someone else (AI doesn't count) - given that the process of designing the character has already been completed. I sometimes do not charge if a character is a simple human, but monsters are usually $150+ on top of my standard art pricing of $125/character. This is a one-time fee and would not be applied to any future art pieces commissioned of that same character.
Q: Is there a waitlist?
A: I offer waitlists for a few months in advance at a time. Starting in 2026 I will offer a waitlist out only 2 or 3 months in advance and ALL slots will be required to pay a deposit. There have been 6 instances of cancellations this year which have affected my schedule and income so this will be the rule moving forward into the new year. Stay tuned for a formal announcement.
Q: How long does it take for a commission?
A: Provided that the client is timely in their revision/approval emails at each stage of the project, a commission should be completed within the month it was started. Often times it takes about 2-3 weeks from sketch to full color. Covers take longer as there is more involved (2-3 months).
Q: I need another crop / version of a previously completed art piece. Do you charge for that?
A: Generally no. I highly recommend reaching out to me if you need art cropped, background removed, etc. to ensure the highest quality product.
Q: Do you charge for additional versions of an art piece? ie: SFW & NSFW
A: At this time I do not charge for an additional version. In an age of frustrating censorship on social media I understand how much of a nuisance it is to have to censor art before posting. I can provide clothing or creative "censor bars" to ensure your art can be appreciated wherever it is posted.
Q: Will you draw real people?
A: No. I can use real people as reference but they will not be a 1:1 copy as I feel uncomfortable portraying them in NSFW artwork without consent. Even with consent, it isn't something I condone for my art.
Q: I don't see my exact request in your won't list but it is borderline- can I ask anyway?
A: Feel free to email me with your request, however do not send me images of the subject matter before you have cleared the idea with me. I really don't like getting sent unsolicited adult media (especially kinds I am not comfortable with).
Q: Where did your Patreon go? Will you start a new one?
A: I stopped Patreon so that I could balance my life better. I was spending a lot of time on it with very little financial return. In addition to personal reasons, I am not going to be starting a new one. I find their security lackluster and, if anything, I may at some point look into another platform. For now BLUESKY is where I post my occasional adult sketches.
Q: Can I trace your art?
A: You can use my art for practice but if you post it publicly you must tag me as such in your description. Do not use my art and pass it off as your own.
Q: Thoughts on AI?
A: It sucks. It sucks for artists and it sucks for humanity. I want it to go away forever.
